1)
Are you stuck asking yourself, “What is my purpose? What should I do with my life?”
2)
I’ve been there too. I spent more than 10 years searching for my purpose, and in this video I’m sharing the most valuable lessons I learned so you don’t have to waste years making the same mistakes.
3)
After all these years, I realized something important:
finding your purpose is much easier than we think—once you understand one key idea.
4)
The first time I seriously faced the question “What do I really want to do in life?” was when I had to choose what to study at university.
5)
I took a gap year to travel, hoping my purpose would somehow find me. Then I took another gap year just to avoid making a decision.
6)
I was confused. On one hand, I felt like I knew what I wanted. On the other hand, I also felt like I didn’t.
7)
At that time, I wanted to study fashion design—but I was interested in a million other things too.
8)
To ease my decision-making process, I made pros and cons lists, asked people for advice, and kept postponing the decision. I had many sleepless nights. Eventually, I chose business.
9)
But here’s the truth: I wanted fashion, yet I studied business because I was afraid.
10)
I was afraid fashion was a risky career choice, so I picked the “safe” option.
11)
Maybe I would have done just fine in fashion—maybe even better. To be honest, my “safe” business degree still hasn’t gotten me a job.
12)
With the knowledge I have now, I would have chosen fashion.
13)
So if you want to find your purpose, listen to yourself: What inspires you? What makes you jealous? What are you curious about? What does your heart want?
14)
Your heart often knows the answer first. Then your rational mind takes over and says, “What if it’s not safe? What if I fail?”
15)
Your mind tries to protect you, but it can also numb your true interests.
16)
That’s why it’s so important to follow what excites you—not only what seems logical.
17)
Even after choosing business, my search didn’t end. As I got older, I kept searching for my purpose in job titles:
doctor, lawyer, designer, entrepreneur, dancer, personal trainer—you name it.
18)
Years passed, and I never found myself in any one title.
19)
I bought books, tried therapy, and worked with career coaches. Nothing gave me a final answer.
20)
And then I realized: you don’t find your purpose—you create it.
21)
Your purpose won’t knock on your door and introduce itself. You won’t wake up one morning with everything figured out.
You create purpose through living.
22)
First, treat your life as a lifelong project. As you gain new experiences, you grow, learn about yourself, and evolve.
23)
Second, follow your curiosity. Curiosity leads you to your genuine interests.
24)
If you keep ignoring your true interests, eventually you get stuck, and it becomes even harder to figure out who you
are and what you want.
25)
Third, make a choice. No choice is also a choice.
26)
Now I’d rather make the wrong choice than no choice at all.
At least then I know for sure.
27)
The only way to know is to try. Wrong decisions are
valuable too—they teach you what is not for you.
28)
It’s better to do something than nothing. Even if it
doesn’t work out, you are still moving forward.
29)
Sometimes we need to get lost on the wrong path to find the
right one. Not choosing any path keeps us standing still.
30)
Another life-changing realization: you can always change.
Decisions are not permanent.
31)
Not sure about your career? Try something. Don’t like it?
Try another thing. Thinking endlessly won’t make the
decision easier.
32)
If you actively participate in life, trial and error is
inevitable—and that’s a good thing.
33)
Stop fearing failure. Fear wasting years doing nothing.
34)
You don’t need to see the whole staircase. You just need to
see the first step.
35)
One more thing: your career is not your purpose. It can be
part of your purpose, but not your whole identity.
36)
No one is just one thing. Most of us have multiple
interests.
37)
So stop forcing yourself into one tiny box. Build your own
box. Over your life, you can be many things.
38)
You have one life. Give yourself permission to expand
beyond the norm.
39)
And please remember: it is never too late to start.
40)
In my early 20s, I felt “too old” for everything. Looking
back, that mindset held me back.
41)
The older I get, the more I realize: it’s never too late.
42)
So here’s the final truth: your purpose is not found. Your
purpose is created.
43)
Clarity comes from experience. Experience builds
self-awareness. Self-awareness shapes your purpose.
44)
Your purpose is what you choose to do every day.
45)
Whatever you do, don’t be afraid to fail. Failure gives
lessons that can serve you for life.
46)
I failed for years, and yes, it was hard—but it taught me
some of my most valuable lessons.
